AOA's InfantSEE

MOA Embraces AOA InfantSEE Program

The MOA board has endorsed the AOA concept to offer all infants under the age of one year a free eye exam. While the AOA is involved in the educational and recruitment phase of the program for the next year, the MOA has started to tell its members to sign up with the AOA program by contacting the AOA. You can leave an email with the AOA by logging into their member section at the following web address: http://www.aoa.org , or call the AOA directly.

InfantSEE is designed to eliminate amblyopia in the United States. Under a challenge issued by President Jimmy Carter, this program will find many potential amblyopes who would otherwise be missed. Although the initial exam is free from participating Doctors of Optometry, subsequent visits and treatment would be charged at the discretion of the practitioner. The AOA will be announcing educational programs in the next year, and expects the cost of equipment to participate to be about $100.

There is nothing to stop you from offering this service today. You do not need to be an official participating doctor to start right away. Please consider offering this service soon though – help stop amblyopia in its tracks!
