Dear MOA Members:
As you know, our profession and the MOA continue to face challenges conveying our scope of services and mission to audiences important to our continued success. The MOA Board of Trustees has invested considerable time in the development of a strategic plan that identifies current organizational objectives and priorities. A key element of the plan now includes a communications component.
I am happy to announce that after careful review of several agencies, the MOA Board hired Franco Public Relations Group (Franco) as our agency-of-record, to assist us with the communications outreach. Franco is one of the leading full-service public relations firms in the state and holds an impressive 43-year history. Franco is headquartered in the Renaissance Center [in downtown Detroit] and serves a broad array of clients including Delta Dental of Michigan, Ohio and Indiana, the Michigan Nurses Association, Renaissance Health and Life, Oakwood Hospital, The Salvation Army, Panera Bread and Tiffany & Co., to name a few.
We believe Franco will help the MOA significantly increase public awareness of the scope of optometric services and the importance of yearly eye exams. In addition, Franco will be offering training to MOA members who are interested in becoming the main media contact in their area of Michigan. They will help us build relationships with local newspapers, television and radio stations, as well as promote local health fairs and special projects.
The Franco account team is as follows:
Susan Ferraro, vice president,
ferraro@franco.com
(313) 567-5046
Defausha Hampton, assistant account executive,
hampton@franco.com
(313) 567-5031
Lauren Panaretos, assistant account executive,
panaretos@franco.com
(313) 567-5048
Dan Ponder, Franco's CEO, will serve as counsel.
As our work with Franco unfolds, I will keep you informed of their efforts. They will attend the MOA Convention in Mt. Pleasant this July to make a presentation to you highlighting their work thus far. I urge you to attend the Business Meeting of the Convention in order to meet the team and to give us your input as to how to fund this important long term project. Additionally, I will look to your point-of-view on how we can best utilize the firm's expertise. Thank you for your consideration and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Dr. Teresa Seim
