Michigan Optometric Association Member Dr. Edward Stein Wins Lifetime Achievement Award

LANSING, Mich. (August 17, 2009) –The Michigan Optometric Association (MOA) awarded longtime member Edward Stein, O.D. with its Lifetime Achievement Award at the MOA's 113th Annual Meeting in July.

The Lifetime Achievement Award honors an individual who has made a significant contribution to the welfare of the public or profession of optometry. Dr. Stein was nominated for the award because of his dedication to the MOA through the years and for his passion for volunteering.

"Dr. Stein just doesn't know when to stop," said Dr. James Flynn, an MOA colleague who nominated Stein for the award. "He is the epitome of a volunteer that never quits volunteering. He is always willing to step up to the plate and get involved."

Dr. Stein is a member of a variety of optometric committees and organizations, including the Oakland County Optometric Association, Optometric Institute and Clinic of Detroit and the American Optometric Association. He also served on the MOA Board of Directors from 1981-1989.

Dr. Stein has also been active through the years in community service activities across metro Detroit. Currently, he is a friend of the Southfield and Detroit Public Libraries and is an active member of Temple Kol Ami in West Bloomfield.

Dr. Stein resides in Southfield with his wife, Marcella. He has three grown children.
